Will the controller register if the trailer is not hooked to the Ranger?

The Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 will notice if a trailer is not connected to it. The light on the Echo itself will be solid blue if it is paired with your smart device but there is no trailer connected.

Please note that it is best to store the Echo inside your tow vehicle when not in use. Since this easily plugs into the 7-Way at the back of your vehicle it can just as easily be unplugged so for security and to help extend the life of the brake controller it is best to store it in a safe and dry place when you aren't using it.
