Is Reese M5 5th Wheel Hitch Compatible with OEM Puck System on a 2020 GMC Sierra 2500

Question:

I have a Reese elite series from 2016 that came in a kit and I mounted rails underneath the bed and drilled holes but it was not manufacturer specific.

The Reese M5 Series 5th wheel hitches, like part # RP30921, are designed to fit the Elite Series underbed rails that you mentioned installing on your 2016. Since it sounds like your 2020 GMC Sierra 2500 has the OEM pucks you will need to swap out your 5th wheel hitch entirely because the puck dimensions won't match up with this Reese 5th wheel hitch. You would instead need the # RP30890 which will fit the Chevy/GMC puck system.

The Demco Adapter Rails # DM6333 that you referenced will fit the pucks on the 2020 Sierra 2500 (whether you have a long or short bed) but it gives you standard base rails above your bed for standard 5th wheel hitches. You can definitely go this route if you choose to or you can go with a 5th wheel hitch that fits directly into the pucks without the use of an adapter.

I personally recommend the B&W Companion which drop in the pucks, part # BWRVK3775 for short bed OR parts # BWRVK3710 or # BWRVK3715 for a long bed, because they are made in the USA with great quality so they will last, you are able to take them apart in pieces to make moving them around a little easier, and they have a cam-action latching handle which makes them a breeze to use even if the terrain isn't level.
