Question:
Hello, I want to order a hit for my 2016 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid to carry 2 bikes using a hitch mounted bike carrier. My question is what would be better, class 1 or class 2 hitch that you guys offer? What is the difference between them other than tongue weight and towing load? Thank you!

Expert Reply:
A class II trailer hitch, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C12091 is a far better option to use on your 2016 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid even for carrying bikes with a hitch mounted bike rack. The reason for this is that it can 1) allow you to carry more bikes if needed and 2) allows for a greater amount of hitch mounted bike racks to be chosen from. The maximum number of bikes you can carry no matter their weight on a class I trailer hitch is two and there are a lot of bike racks that are not rated for use on a class I trailer hitch. This is why the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C12091 is what you will want to use instead of the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 24897 which are the only two options for a Lincoln MKZ.
I have attached a list of our hitch mounted bike racks for you to look though as well.
