In order to add a 7-way and brake controller to your 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 you will first need to start with a 4-way, the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C55504 which is plug and play. Once this is installed you can then adapt this 4-way to a 7-way using the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller part # ETBC7. This also come with all the other parts you need to install a brake controller like the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller part # TK90160 which is what I recommend.
I have attached a photo that explains the install process for you as well.
