Cushioned Gooseneck Coupler that Can be Used with Ford Gooseneck Pop In Ball
Updated 09/04/2019 | Published 09/03/2019 >
Question:
You previously answered a question regarding the usage of this in a 2017 F450, and wrongly stated the type of ball. The OEM Ford gooseneck kit uses a pop-in ball with a release lever that is built into the top of the ball. There is no pin retaining the ball anywhere in the system. Why is this pop-in style not recommended to be used with the cushioning coupler?

There's a ridge on the inside of the Convert-A-Ball Multi-Cushioned Gooseneck Trailer Coupler # CG that will catch on the pop in style gooseneck balls due to the edge present for the lever release mechanisms. This will cause wear on the ball and the coupler and is why it's not recommended.
For a cushioned adapter similar that does not have the stipulation we have the Gen-Y Gooseneck Coupler w/ Shock Absorption # 325-GH-7001 which actually features a much better shock system than the # CG.
