Trailer Hitch and Trailer Wiring Recommendations for 2016 Dodge Journey Crossroad With LED Lights

Question:

What trailer hitch and wiring combination do you recommend for a 2016 Dodge Journey Crossroad w/LED lights? I would like the full spare to be able to fit with the hitch installed. I attempted to have another company non-dealership install a hitch and their listed part did not fit the frame of this vehicle. They said that it is because my vehicle has LED lights. Do LED lights really require a different frame? This seemed odd to me. Thanks for your help and input

Odd is a very good word to describe a company telling you that a trailer hitch would not fit your 2016 Dodge Journey Crossroad because it has LED lights. False is another word that I would use, as you can see by the accompanying photos and linked installation video of the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 75648 being installed on a 2016 Dodge Journey Crossroad that has LED lights.

The reason I know this is a '16 Journey Crossroad with LED lights is because we also installed the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118536 on the same vehicle, and I linked this installation video for you as well.

So the combination of the Draw-Tite # 75648 and T-One Harness # 118536 would be my strong recommendation for their quality and because as you can see by the other photo I added for you, the Draw-Tite hitch does allow you to keep your spare tire exactly in place.

My only other recommendation would be to find a more qualified installer and really this shouldn't be that difficult. Most mechanics deal with things more complicated than a hitch install so if you give a couple quick calls to local shops and ask if they have experience with this type of install you should be able to find a good installer fairly easily.
