Question:

Step not working properly. When I open the door step go in and out several times and doesnt extend fully out. Also, doesnt close when door is shut.

From what you describe, the most likely culprit would either be the motor on the steps is going bad or the half-moon shaped gear is damaged.

You can independently test the motor by removing it and applying 12 volt power directly to it, if it operates okay, you've ruled out the motor. Next, examine the half moon gear such as # LC369354 that the output gear from the motor actuates. If there is debris caught in the gear, or if there's teeth missing the problems you mention might occur. The actual gear needed will depend on which model step you have.

Please test the motor and examine the gear, then get back with me and let me know what you find. We have or can get the correct replacement parts for you.
