Question:

A friend of mine gave me his complete Yakima roof rack with towers, bars, bike holders... the whole thing. But, it doesnt fit my car Hyundai Kona EV 2019 Limited without rails. The towers are made for a car with lips over the doors. The roof rack has round bars. The towers have locks in them is that transferable. So to get this on my Kona EV Im going to need new towers Y00146 ?. Do I need something for the round bars to work with these towers? Can I use my existing locks? How much will the complete package cost? Also, Im willing to use a different brand tower if that works with these bars and is more cost-effective. Thanks

The correct Yakima towers to use on the bare roof of your 2019 Hyundai Kona are indeed the BaseLine Towers # Y28TR that you referenced. These are the only Yakima towers that will work on your particular vehicle. To use these with your existing round bars you will just need to add the RoundBar SL Adapter # Y03536. This kit includes all 4 of the needed adapters for each of the towers.

In addition to the towers themselves you will also need the Front Fit Kit # Y06175 and the Rear Fit Kit # Y06131 to actually attach the towers to the vehicle's roof.

You can indeed transfer the lock cores from your friend's towers to the new BaseLine units. You will need the Control Key # Y8007835 to actually remove and insert the cores if you don't have it already.
