To install the Extang Replacement Tail Clamp Assembly # EX1035 into an Extang Solid Fold you will need to cut a notch in the channel. A spot near the middle of the cover is preferred.
Usually you'll only need to make a notch on one side of the channel, to create an opening just large enough to both remove the original clamp and then to install the new one into the channel and then slide it back into position.
My contact at Extang indicated that usually a Dremel-type rotary tool can do this job most easily.
