Troubleshooting Reverse Lockout Solenoid of Surge Brake Trailer Not Allowing Trailer to Back Up

Trailer has surge brakes , when in reverse brakes engage, does backup light wire supply enough amps to disengage solenoid in brake line and best location for attaching to white with green stripe wire .l have a Hopkins 47515 adapter .Subaru has factory installed 4 pin receptacle.

The backup light circuit of a vehicle would provide enough amperage to activate the lockout solenoid on a trailer with surge brakes. I'd make sure that the extra blue wire of your # 47515 does have voltage when the reverse lights are on to verify it's working and then also verify that the solenoid is grounding properly.
Most likely it's the ground on the solenoid not sufficient to activate. But if so let me know what brand actuator you have as it might be time for a new lock out solenoid like with the Titan part # T4748800 for Titan actuators.
