what elese is needed to flat tow a ford transit? does it need a driveline disconnect?

Expert Reply:
Your 2015 Ford Transit cannot be safely towed 4 wheels down as it sits. Ford recommends using a tow dolly or a trailer. A driveline disconnect would allow you to safely tow the vehicle 4 wheels down. We don't offer driveline disconnects, you'd need to search that online.
If you installed a drivelline disconnect, the Blue Ox base plate kit you mentioned, # BX2655 would be a good choice. With its 6500 lb capacity, the Blue Ox Alpha 2 tow bar, part # BX7380 would work well for you. For wiring, I'd recommend the Roadmaster # RM-15267 diode kit. You'll need safety cables like # RM-643 and a supplemental braking system such as the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR. Once everything is installed, you'll want to be sure that the tow bar is within 3 inches of level. If it isn't, you'll need a high-lo adapter. I'll link you to some help articles with more information about the items I've recommended above, as well as an article that explains how to determine which if any high/lo adapter you need.
