Is 1/16 Inch Too Much Play for Blue Ox Bumper Adapter

Question:

I understand the pin diameter is 7/8” inch for this adapter and that It comes with a 1/8” shim for 7/8” thick tab. My d-ring hole diameter is 15/16” no paint or powder coat lining the hole. Is 1/16” to much play in the pin? If so would you recommend drilling the d-ring holes out to 1” and opting for the bx88307 1” pin kit?

You can definitely use the Blue Ox Aftermarket Off-Road Bumper Adapter - 7/8" Pin # BX88357.

The 1/16" space you were talking about is not too much play, it is such a small amount it won't be impactful. Drilling the holes out is not something I recommend doing; anytime you can avoid modification you should.
