Spare Tire Installation After the Curt Hitch # 13354 is Installed on a 2011 Acura MDX
Updated 02/20/2012 | Published 02/15/2012 >
Question:
After I installed the Curt hitch, the spare tire does not seem to have enough room to go all the way back into position where its flush against the vehicle, or maybe I should say that I cant seem to get it all the way up in there. I would describe it as the spare tire is wedged in and pulled tight at an angle. The tire is a temporary type tire, but it looks to be full size. Is this normal when the hitch is installed or is there a trick to getting the tire all the way up in there? Also, I forgot to add that I really like the hitch. Easy enough to install and looks great.

It sounds to me like you are just missing one small step for proper installation of the spare tire with the Curt hitch installed on your 2011 Acura MDX.
Typically, with the hitch installed you will need to tilt the rearward part of the spare tire up and guide it over the top of the hitch as you raise it on the spare tire winch. This allows the tire to mount in its original location, snug to the vehicle under body..
If this procedure does not work for you, send me a photo, I will be glad to look it over and see if I can tell why the spare is not fitting back up as it should.
