Replacement Brake Controller Recommendation for Malfunctioning Curt Triflex

Published 07/09/2019

Question:

I have a 05 Nissan Titan I hooked up Curt Triflex via plug and play. Follow set up instructions but get 2 dots, then CC sometimes CC then RC, press brakes get numbers then starts flashing DC. Unplug trailer and reconnect. Do process all over again but continue to get same response. Followed instructions to the letter repeatedly but get the same response. If I drive down the road and press brakes it locks up on trailer no matter what the display says. Tried to adjust levels made no difference. Cleaned connections at both Rv travel trailer and truck made no difference. Received controller used right out of another truck. Is the controller junk? Problem with truck or trailer wiring possible? Unsure where to go with it. Starting to get very frustrated. Thx

The Curt Triflex you have is known for internal problems like what you are experiencing. Honestly it's not a very reliable controller and it's time to replace it since it broken now.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P3 Brake Controller part # 90195. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes. This will be the last brake controller you buy as it is incredibly reliable, works well, and is easy to use. It can easily be transferred to future vehicles as well.

To install it all you need is the part # 3050-P for a plug and play install.
