Question:

I have a 2019 Kona EV Limited with a normal roof no flush mounted rails. This lack of rails seems to have become the standard for the base model and the Limited in the U.S. All of your advice, and other sites’ advice seem to assume rails. Getting these installed post market by the dealer is prohibitively expensive. What would be the recommended rack without the flush mounted rails? Thanks.

I checked with Yakima and they do have a roof rack system available that is designed to fit your 2019 Hyundai Kona that has a completely naked roof without any side rails. For this you will just need part # Y00425 for the 50" JetStream Crossbars, # Y28TR for the BaseLine Towers that mount directly to the vehicle's bare roof, # Y06175 for the Front BaseClip Fit Kit, and # Y06131 for the Rear BaseClip Fit Kit.

This will provide you with an excellent, durable, and quiet roof rack because of its sleek aerodynamic bars and secure connection to your Hyundai Kona. It features a 165 pound weight capacity.
