Question:
Is this truly wired with 16 gauge across the board? Id be interested in using it to replace the 7 pin connector I have on my truck and trailer now, but the current connector has a mix 14, 12, and 10 gauge wiring which I believe is standard to supply the trailer.

I called our representative at EZ Connector and the EZ Connector Magnetic 14-Pin Trailer Connector part # 319-S14-05-6 has 14 gauge wire from the back of the connector. We do recommend a larger gauge wire for the trailer brake wire, 12V wire and reverse wire.
I recommend using a Hopkins Universal 7-way plug part # 37185. This unit has 16 gauge wires for the Green, Yellow, and Brown wires and then 12 gauge wires for the Blue, White, Black, and Purple wires. Then you can the Hopkins 7-Way Trailer connector part # HM48503 to plug into the 7-way plug. It features a built-in LED light to verify power to each function if you ever have to troubleshoot the wiring.
