One Wheel On Tandem Axle Bass Boat Trailer with UFP Brakes Keeps Locking Up
Updated 06/12/2019 | Published 06/11/2019 >
Question:
I have a 2018 Dexter/UFP dual axle trailer that hauls a 20foot bass boat. After making a tight left hand turn last night, the right hand rear looking from behind the trailer caliper locked up and made a loud squealing sound. After I straightened out and began to drive, it appeared to free up. After sitting overnight, the brake was again stuck. I took the wheel off and it freed up, but it is still much tighter than the other 3 wheels. Suggestions?

It sounds as if the piston inside the brake caliper is starting to stick. This is what is then causing the brake to lock up on that one wheel. In order to fix this issue you are going to want to replace the caliper and the correct one for you which also comes with new pads and hardware is the Replacement Universal Caliper part # K71-773-02. I confirmed this with Dexter for you as well.
