Why Not Directly Weld On Weight Distribution Brackets to Trailer Frame

Question:
I read your advice about welding on plates and the heavy duty chain hanger. Is there a reason one could not because I already have them cut the top off the snap brackets used on channel iron frames and face weld that to the plate between top and bottom of I beam? Easier hookup

The reason to install steel plate to enclose an I-beam trailer frame to allow use of a weight distribution hitch's lift brackets is that this method makes for easier replacement of a bracket should one fail. If you directly weld the modified lift bracket to the I-beam then you will have a tougher time of removing it should it ever fail. Using the steel plate means you can bolt/clamp one on and more easily remove it if the need arises.
