Picking Out Trailer Leaf Spring for 3,500 lb Axle to Replace Spring that is 25-1/2 inches Long

Updated 05/31/2019 | Published 05/30/2019

Question:

I read the post on the spring length. Is the measurement taken with the tire on or off? I measured with the off and it reads 25 1/2. In your charts, you do not list a 25 1/2inch double eye spring. It is a 4 leaf spring. Should I go with a 26inch or a 25 1/8? It is a dual axle trailer with a 7000 GVW. So 2 - 3500 lb axles. What spring should I use?

So over time a trailer leaf spring will stretch out slightly as it tends to flatten out. This means that when you measure your old springs you want to typically go with a new spring that's just slightly shorter to accommodate this.

So if you have a 3,500 lb axle and your leaf spring is currently 25-1/2 inches long from spring eye to spring eye then the part # e54SR that you referenced would be perfect as it is 25-1/8 inches.
