I wanted to know how to make both sides light up when I brake. It works when i turn on the left blinker.

I took a look at the instruction manual and in order to troubleshoot what the issue is with the Rampage SuperBrite LED Tailgate Light Bar # RA960137, "If you have issues with the functions of the bar check the 1 amp fuse in the ground line. You can use a 9 volt battery to test power off of the vehicle. Connect the battery (-) to the ground on the four prong, and the other (+) to each of the three connectors on the four prong, one at a time. This will ensure functionality of the bar."
It is also possible that the 4-way on your truck is not functioning properly so you will want to use Circuit Tester # PTW2979 to find out. You also have the option of hardwiring the light strip to your truck with a quick splice such as # SWC501746-1.
