Will Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs Fit with OEM Air Suspension on 2017 Nissan Armada
Updated 05/22/2019 | Published 05/20/2019 >
Question:
Hello! I see the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helpers will fit my 2017 Armada. Looking for some help has I tow a 34foot 7200lb Travel trailer with an equalizer hitch and still experience a considerable amount of sag. This looks like what I need and Ive read alot about this issue with armadas old and new. RV dealer recommended getting bags but wasnt sure they would fit on the 2017. My question is, the 2017 Armada has an air suspension system with compressor factory installed. Does that have to be uninstalled to install the firestones? Or the firestones work along with the factory air suspension? Hoping that is the case. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

The Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs # F4150 will work with the OEM air suspension on your 2017 Nissan Armada as long as the air bags aren't installed inside the coil springs (see attached photo). I tried looking up where the air suspension bags sit on your Armada but I wasn't able to find the location. Attached is a sample installation video of this kit on a 2011 Armada for you to reference.
With that being said, if you are using a weight distribution (WD) system already then you shouldn't be experiencing a considerable amount of sag. A properly rated WD system should bring your front and back ride height within 1" of the unloaded ride height of your vehicle.
To ensure that your WD is properly rated start off by adding the loaded tongue weight of your trailer (you can use a scale like part # e99044 for this) with the amount of cargo that sits behind the rear axle of your Armada. This number should fall about in the middle of the tongue weight range of your WD system. For example, the popular Reese Strait-Line # RP66084 has a tongue weight range of 600 lbs - 1,200 lbs.
If your WD system is rated correctly then the next step is to make sure you have it adjusted properly. Since each WD system is a little different you will need to reference the installation instructions that came with your system for this step.
Attached are some additional review videos and helpful articles on WD for you to reference.
