Question:
Hi, dear etrailer expert The 4 pin work great and easy to install from etrailer. I have a new trailer that required 7 pins for the electric brake. Is there a product to replace my 4 pins 118408 product to a 7 pin? I know I can add to it, I got a 4 to 7 adapter on the road and will still need to get a brake controller product to go with it. I was hoping there is one product to do it all. This Jeep commander 2006 has no factory tow package. Thanks

The best way to convert the 4-Way on your Jeep Commander to a fully functional 7-Way connector for use with a standard brake controller is to use the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This kit includes the new 7-Way/4-Way connector plus all the additional wiring and circuit breakers needed to complete the brake output, 12V, and reverse light (if needed) circuits on the new connector.
Since you already have a 4-Way to 7-Way adapter you can also just add the Wiring Kit # 5506 instead, which is essentially the above kit without the 7-Way connector itself.
I have attached the complete installation instructions along with a help article that you might find useful. There is not a custom 7-Way harness available that you could replace your existing 4-Way with on your Jeep Commander.
Then for the brake controller I highly recommend taking a look at the Curt Echo # C51180 because of its simple install process and ease of use. This will plug right into the new 7-Way on your Jeep and then pair to your smartphone via Bluetooth after downloading the free app. This eliminates the need to install and wire an additional monitor/unit in the cab because you will use your phone as the control. The Echo also only needs the 12V circuit to be active on the 7-Way which means you don't need to run the blue brake output wire when installing the new connector.
I have attached a short video review that you can check out as well.
