Does EcoHitch for 2019 Volkswagen Golf GTI Affect Crash Stability
Updated 04/30/2019 | Published 04/29/2019 >
Question:
From the video, it looks like both the bumper beam and foam piece are not reinstalled when installing this hitch. Do you have any information on how this might affect stability of the rear bumper cover and rear impact crash performance?

Expert Reply:
The EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7375 that you referenced does replace the bumper beam and the foam piece that fits into the bumper beam. Essentially this replaces the bumper beam. The main crumple zones of the vehicle are still in front of the beam so basically the crash performance is unaffected.
