In 4-pole trailer wiring like # 16-4B-1 clearance lights (and tail lights) will connect to the brown wire.
The 4-pole format's wire color/function arrangement is as follows:
WHITE wire is ground
YELLOW wire is LEFT stop and turn
GREEN wire is RIGHT stop and turn
BROWN wire is running/clearance lights
