Does the Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness Require Reprogramming on a 2018 Volkswagen Atlas
Updated 04/24/2019 | Published 04/23/2019 >
Question:
The harness from VW I believe part# 3CN055203A requires that the computer be recoded. This typically means that the dealer needs to install it. It is also close to $300. Will this harness need the computer to be recoded? What is the difference between these two?

Expert Reply:
I cannot speak for the VW Trailer Wiring Harness 3CN055203A but the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56383 that we offer plugs in behind the tail lights so it will not require any reprogramming/coding. The VW Trailer Wiring Harness you are referring to most likely plugs into a tow port on your 2018 Volkswagen Atlas which is why reprogramming is required to activate the circuits. The Curt option like the factory option offers plug and play install but without the added cost of reprogramming.
