Yes, Draw-Tite hitch # 75600 does require rear fascia trimming for installation on the 2016 BMW X5. The linked photo shows you an underneath view of the trimmed fascia. The normal above-ground view shown in the second photo gives you a better real-world perspective on the car's appearance after installation.
The EcoHitch # 306-X7265 which fits the 2016 BMW X5 (except for the M Performance models) does not require you to cut the bumper, nor is any drilling required. The installation does entail temporary removal of the bumper/fascia and permanent removal of the impact structure. The hitch takes the place of the impact structure and then the bumper/fascia goes back on.
The hitch's cross tube bolts onto your BMW X5's frame, behind your rear bumper. Once installed, the cross tube will be completely concealed.
