How to Pick Out Leaf Spring for Trailer

Question:

Why are some springs that are 4 leaf have measurements of 25 1/8inch and 25 1/4inch I want to replace all 4 springs but want to get the correct ones. Thank you.

Not all leaf springs are made to the same length. It would be nice if they all were as that would make replacing them very easy but unfortunately they are all made at varying lengths. To pick out a spring first thing you need to know is the capacity you need. This is the axle capacity that will be listed either on the plate of the trailer that has the VIN up near the coupler or on the axle. Next you need to know what length you need. Measure the length of your springs from eye center to eye center and keep in mind that old springs tend to stretch around 1/8 over tire from flattening out.

The part # e54SR you referenced fits a 3,500 lb axle and is 25-1/8 inches long. This would be ideal as a replacement for a trailer with a 3,500 lb axle and old springs that measure around 25-1/4 inch.
