Leaf Spring Recommendation for Calkins Single Axle Boat Trailer

Updated 05/31/2018 | Published 05/30/2018

Question:

Hi i just got a calkins single axle boat trailer, not sure of year or what it’s rated for but it’s holding a 23’ boat. I need to replace the leaf springs and I measured 26” exactly from center eye to eye X 1 3/4” wide, but the leaf springs are pretty much flat, do you think I need 26” replacements or or slightly smaller. Also can i choose a higher weight rating as long as the measurements are the same?

Trailer leaf springs to flatten out over time so you ideally go with replacements that are a little bit shorter. Since you said yours are pretty much flat you might need even shorter than usual. The size most likely ideal for you would be 25-1/8 inch like the # e54SR for a 3,500 lb axle.

For a lower capacity we have the part # e66SR which is for a 2,500 lb axle.
