Compatibility of Awning Screen Room With Awning Water Puddles

Updated 04/05/2019 | Published 04/04/2019

Question:

LC362234 All, To start, my RV is a 2009 Weekend Warrior CLD 4005 - 43foot triple axle fifth wheel. it has a 19foot awning that covers both entrance doors. Two slides on the non-awning side. My awning is a 2008 Dometic AandE Sunchaser with new vinyl installed last summer. It is 9foot from the ground to the top awning rail mount. I live in Redding, CA and get a fair amount of rain. Im interested in adding the listed screen room. However, I am concerned this will not work in the rain, and need some expert advise. The problem with the rain is that I have to tilt my current awning unknown degree to get the water to run off and if I get the awning anywhere close to what is shown in the description photo, then the water will not run off and will pool in the center. Any suggestions?

The Solera Family Room for 19' RV Awning # LC362234 is a fit for your Dometic Sunchaser 19 foot awning. It is designed to accommodate up to 130 inch rail-to-ground measurements, so your 9 foot height will work fine.

This family room has roll down panels for those rainy days or portions of the day. When you need to tilt the awning down for water run-off, the base may give you enough height to not pull the stakes and get the water protection on the bottom. If not based on your angle, simply pull the stakes and drop or tilt to whatever angle is needed to get the pooled water off.

If you don't have an awning tensioner, I recommend the Camco RV Power Hook Awning Tensioner System CAM42013 which will help keep water from pooling.
