The Badland winch 9k has a power draw of 300 amps at full load. You need a deep cycle 12V AGM battery that can handle that amperage. I recommend a battery with 650 Cold Cranking Amps (CCA).

Badland Winches are an introductory winch with a not so great duty cycle meaning they can overheat quickly and then require waiting to cool down for a long time. If you will be using this winch often, then I highly recommend upgrading to the Bulldog Winch Standard Series Off-Road Winch - Wire Rope - Roller Fairlead - 9,500 lbs # BDW10042 at a similar price point. This winch will have a higher amp draw at 380 amps max, but also has a duty cycle that is about 4 times longer for the same recovery time.
