It doesn't sound like you have the factory tow package on your 2007 Chevy Express 2500, so you will want to start with a 4-way wiring harness like # 118392 if you don't already have it and then you will use the # ETBC7 wiring kit to upgrade to the 7-way connector for your trailer with electric brakes.
Then you can install whatever brake controller you desire. I've attached a video to assist that shows the connection to the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller # TK90160 but the installation will be the same with whatever model you choose. I really like the Prodigy P3 # 90195 which has an LCD screen and provides more diagnostic info. I've attached a video to assist.
