The only completely rust resistant hitch ball you can get is one made of stainless steel. For this, we have a few different options depending on the size you need. If you need a 2-5/16" hitch ball you can use part # SC30-C which has a 1" diameter shank. If you need a 2" hitch ball you can use part # A-82 which has a 3/4" diameter shank. If you need a 1-7/8" hitch ball you can use part # A-80 which has a 3/4" diameter shank.
The issue with other chrome plated hitch ball is that with continued use, the chrome plating can wear off and then cause the metal undeath to rust. The stainless steel hitch ball will not rust as there is no coating on it to wear off. If you were to stick with a chrome plated hitch ball then greasing it with part# 58117 before each use would help to prevent the coating from wearing off.
