What Is the Working Load Limit of the Curt Hook with Spring Loaded Safety Latch C81288
Published 03/19/2019 >
Question:
As you research hooks for safety chains, the new body style Ford Super Duty pickup (mine is a 2017 F-350) has modified its integrated trailer safety chain hook loops (not sure the proper term, but where the safety chain latches on to the trailer hitch receiver) so that it is much thicker than previous models. Most traditional safety chain hooks will not latch and lock properly, which has set me on a search for heavy duty safety chain hooks that will work with this new setup. I have purchased a dozen different hooks and have yet to find one that both latches securely and will bear the weight of heavy trailers. If you are aware of any such product, please post on your website! Thank you.

I spoke to Curt about the Curt Hook with Spring Loaded Safety Latch part # C81288 and they informed me that the 5,000 lb weight capacity is working load limit (WLL). I asked if there was a break strength rating but they were not able to provide this unfortunately.
