Question:
I can not plug in my RV trailer plug into the available 7 way plug on my 05 Ford Expedition. It seems to be to big. I bought a curt adapter that plugs into the truck and then allows the trailer plug to fit. But the adapter seems to kill my truck. acts like battery is dead. take the plug out truck cranks. What adapter do I need to be able to use my trailer. Expedition has heavy duty tow package. I would have thought the trailer would plug right in. The RV trailer is an 05 Weekend Warrior.

If you can send me some photos of the trailer connector on your 2005 Weekend Warrior then I may have some better advice for you but I don't have any information on what trailer connector you have currently installed on your trailer. According to my research, it should be a standard blade style 7-way so if this is not what you have then odds are it was replaced with something different at one point in time. If that is the case then I recommend you just replace the trailer connector on the trailer as this is super simple and you won't need any adapters. I recommend the Hopkins Endurance 7-Way Blade Trailer Connector w/ Holder part # HM48500 or the Hopkins 7-Way RV Style Trailer Connector w/ LED Test Lights part # HM48503.
The issue you were having with the adapter is more than likely a difference in pin outs so make sure the trailer side and vehicle side pins both match when you install the new trailer connectors. I have attached our trailer wiring help article to help with this. Please test each wire for function with a 12 volt battery instead of color matching.
