What do I need to install a brake controller on 2018 Ford Edge with factory 4-way

To add a brake controller to your factory 4-way, I recommend using the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7. This will give you the 7-way connector, the wiring, circuit breakers and tester needed to get the functions you are currently missing.
Then you have the option of either hardwiring a brake controller or using a wireless brake controller. I recommend going with an option that gives you a clean look in your vehicle, so if you want a hardwired controller, I recommend the RedArc Tow Pro Elite # RED44FR which will simply give you a button that looks factory in your dash or console. This is the route I'd go because of the adjustability and ease of use with a simply connection and adjustment available at any time.
If you want a wireless option, I recommend the Curt Echo # C51180 which uses a Bluetooth connection to a mobile app for its settings. This is a super easy to install and remove option that works for trailers with single or tandem axle electric brakes.
I've attached a couple videos to assist.
