Power Wire Installation for Reese Powered Converter 4-Pole Wiring Harness

Question:
Just received the ordered 8551200 tail light converter. My Inquiry regarding power connection to battery: Harness installation reads: inch Using butt connector, connect modules black wire and 12 gauge or larger gauge wire. inch I got the trailer flat wire harness, the 4 color coded vehicule signal wires, the heavy gauge white ground wire and finally, a short heavy gauge RED wire... Can you confirm that this heavy RED wire is the intended modules black wire to get power from battery + terminal ?

Yes, you are correct that the short RED pigtail on your wiring harness module is to be connected to the battery + terminal to provide operating power for the harness. Also make sure the WHITE ground wire is solidly attached to a clean bare metal surface that is free of paint, primer, rust or grease. Bare metal contact is essential for the harness to operate properly.
Kits like this Reese unit will include a length of black wire to join the red pigtail and be routed up the battery, as described in the linked help article.
