Troubleshooting A Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chain Fit For A 2022 Chevrolet Suburban

Question:

I was excited to practice fitting my new chains Konig self-tensioning, diamond pattern - D link, XG12 Pro, size 267 on my Suburban tires, but it appears to me that these chains are a bit too small. I could get the first red clip to chain attached on the outside step 3 of the instructions, but the tensioning bungee cord will not reach to attach to the hook on the opposite segmented cord step 5. I had to attach a separate S hook to connect them. I then tried driving slowly forward and back a ways in the hopes theyd tighten up, but it was not enough to be able to remove that S hook. Also, the D links that are supposed to sit approximately along the centerline of the tire are all offset toward the inside edge of the tire, which tells me these chains are too small. See pictures of what Im talking about. I would appreciate any suggestions of what else to try. These are very expensive chains to not have functioning properly.

The Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - XG12 Pro - Size 267, part # TH01594267, is compatible with the 265/65-18 tires on your 2022 Chevrolet Suburban. I forwarded your pictures to a representative at Konig and he said your snow tire chains are installed correctly. He did have the following thoughts.

The chain looks to be fitting just fine and installed correctly. It will center itself to the tread section once it is in operation for approximately 100-200 feet.

Remove the metal "S" hook from the self-tension fastener immediately. Connecting the chain with modifications is not safe or recommended and will result in void to the warranty.
