Your 2005 Ford F-250 Super Duty with the factory 7-way will have a plug and play option for a factory brake controller; if you take a look at the accompanying diagram you can see where the plug will be on your truck. There will be a black storage compartment and if you remove it you will see two plugs and the one for the brake controller should be on the right.
You can then simply plug your new brake controller in with a wiring adapter. The brake controller I strongly recommend for your F-250 is the Prodigy P3 # 90195 because of how easy it is to use and how effective it is at supplying the appropriate amount of braking power to your trailer. All you would need to use this is the Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3065-P, which you would connect to the aforementioned plug.
The reason why the P3 is your best option is not only because of how easy it is to set up, but because it activates your trailer's brakes immediately in proportion to your truck's brakes and offers three different boost levels so you can adjust the amount of power to your brakes as you see fit. It levels automatically, has constant diagnostic checks, contains safeguards which defend your controller against shorts, and features a vivid LCD display which is much easier to read than that of other controllers
This controller has been met with nearly universal praise; it has been reviewed by our customers more than 3,000 times and is averaging close to 5 out of 5 stars.
I have added a link to a video review of the P3 # 90195 and Adapter # 3065-P for you to check out as well as a link to a help article on installing a brake controller in your Ford Super Duty which I recommend checking out.
