Question:

What type and size hitch can I get for my Highlander? I have been told there are more than one class for it. Highlander has full-size steel spare. I have a 2-inch bike rack and occasionally tow our utility and pop-up trailers. Which do you recommend? Thanks.

There are both Class III and Class IV hitches made for your 2018 Highlander but all are the 2-inch receiver size.

The one I recommend for its combination of high capacity, easier installation and value is the etrailer hitch # e98844 which offers 900-lb tongue weight and 6K towing ratings. This hitch will easily handle your towing and bike rack applications and it is compatible with your spare tire.

For wiring you can use Tekonsha T-One harness # 118449 since you do not have the tow package. An install video for the harness is included for you too. I also recommend our Ball Mount kit # 989900 for a flexible towing kit that will work with various trailers.
