Question:
Im needing a brake controller and dont like the idea of mounting one in cab on a new truck, so my question is, if I connect and setup the controller to the desired setting and then disconnect will I lose settings,? If I remove device from vehicle will I need to reconnect to it the next time Im ready to use,? or only need to reconnect when Im ready to change settings or to have access to manual mode?

In regards to the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180, the braking power and aggressiveness settings are stored within the Echo Smart Control app on your phone, not the actual device. Therefore you will not lose your settings when you unplug the unit, only if you delete the app. The app will allow you to store settings for up to five different trailers.
When the device is removed from the vehicle and then reinstalled you don't need to go through the entire setup again, just open the app and select your profile. In order to change any of the settings you will need to be connected to the device. If this doesn't answer your question please let me know and I will do my best to better explain this for you.
I have attached a very in-depth review video for you as well which may be worthwhile to look over.
