Question:
Hello, I saw this question and wanted to ask for a little elaboration. I have a Thule T2 bike rack that is 1-1/4. If I get a trailer hitch for my car that is Class III or above, I wont have an issue using a 2inch adapter with 110 lbs of load, correct? I would rather have a 2inch receiver on my car than a 1-1/4, if possible, but dont want to get rid of my bike rack. Thank you Original question: etrailer.com/question-54716.html

You are correct that a 2 inch hitch receiver is a better option when available for your vehicle. The ability to use a wider variety of accessories is one of the biggest draws but they are normally rated for higher capacities as well when compared to a 1-1/4 inch receiver.
Your Thule T2 with 1-1/4 inch shank similar to the newer T2 Classic # TH9045 will be able to use your 2 inch receiver. Most racks that are designed for use with both 2 inch and 1-1/4 inch hitch receivers will use a Thule adapter sleeve, but this carrier will simply use a non-thule adapter sleeve like # MT70033 or # 80300. These will add extra length between your hitch and bike rack and will give you 50% reduction in tongue weight, but won't be any issue with the 110 lb load as you stated.
