How to Charge Trailer Batteries with the Vehicle's Alternator and Shore Power

Question:
Hi, I am looking to buy the Redarc BCDC1240D from you to charge my 2 AGM batteries from the vehicle alternator while driving. I also have 200watts solar that will go into the Redarc. IS there any product like the Redarc Dc to DC charger that can ALSO have a 120volt shore power input? Sometimes wed be in one place for awhile with shore power and would like to use that to compliment the solar. Do you have anything like this? or would I need a completely separate shore power circuit, so either alternator/solar OR shower power such as an inverter charger? Your help is much appreciated! Thanks for all the info on your site, it has helped me to get my system planned!

I do have options for you but the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger part # 331-BCDC1240D would not accept AC current from shore power and then use that to charge your two AGM batteries while disconnected from the tow vehicle. The Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger would still be needed while driving but when parked you would need to install a power converter to charge the batteries using shore power.
The correct power converter will vary depending on the A/h of your batteries and the service at the RV park. If you are using a 30 amp service then you would most likely need around a 60 amp power converter like the Progressive Dynamics PD9200 Series Inteli-Power Converter part # PD9260C but if you are using a 50 amp service then you would likely need a 60+ amp power converter like the Progressive Dynamics PD9200 Series Inteli-Power Converter part # PD9280A.
If you are thinking of installing a power converter on your trailer to charge the DC batteries while on shore power then I highly recommend you speak to an RV technician beforehand.
