Question:
I am looking for an alternative to Toyota part number PT228-35161. This is a OEM Toyota ball mount for 2016 Toyota Tacoma. It has a 2 3/4 inch and a 1 1/2 inch rise and is rated at 10,000 lbs. Does e-Trailer carry an exact substitute for this Toyota part?

I did some research on the Toyota OEM ball mount PT228-35161 and it has a 2-3/4 Drop or 1-1/2 inch rise and is rated for 10,000 lbs. We do not have an exact substitute for that ball mount, but a good alternative with some options is the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches - 7,500 lbs # 989900. For a fixed mount ball mount I recommend measuring for level towing with your trailer. I've attached an article to assist. Another option is the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches - 3/4" Rise or 2" Drop - 7,500 lbs # 989891.
If you prefer to have an adjustable ball mount option, I recommend the Rapid Hitch Adjustable, Aluminum Ball Mount Kit w/ 2 Zinc Balls - 4" Drop or Rise, # AM3462 and then the Andersen Trailer Hitch Lock and Adjustment Pin Lock Set # AM3493 to secure your investment. I've attached videos to assist.
