Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring that Stopped Working After Replacing Harness
Published 12/10/2018 >
Question:
2 days ago the lights on our car hauler shorted out. We determined that it was due to corrosion so we replaced the wiring harness and now we have NOTHING! We purchased a new female adapter that is affixed to the bumper of out truck, we also purchased a wire tested and all the lights on the tester glowed red some brighter then the other but nonetheless we determined their was power to the back of the truck. What could be the trouble?

Sounds like you've eliminated the truck from being the wiring problem on your towing setup. It's very possible the wiring of the vehicle was damaged when it shorted out and if you didn't replace or inspect all of it the problem is somewhere else on the wiring. Or if the ground wasn't connected properly on the trailer wiring that can pretty easily cause all of the function to stop working. I attached a couple help articles on trailer wiring for you to check out as well.
