Question:

Looking for a trailer wiring harness for a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L without a factory tow package. There are 2 listed but i dont see the difference in them. Just want to make sure i get the correct one.

Hi Sean!

Out of the two wiring harnesses listed for your 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, I recommend going with the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C27BR. Reason being, it's plug and play and the other harness (the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C59236) is a hardwire/splice in harness.

Either of these will work perfectly fine for you, but the # C27BR is going to be a lot easier to do. It snaps in behind your taillights and then you run one wire up to the battery for needed power. It is definitely the one to go with!

I used the C27BR - Plug and Play, and I watched the Video that etrailer shares. Extremely useful, I also wrapped the wiring from the battery down the right side of my jeep up to the back of the jeep with1/4" wire loom split tubing (auto wire conduit flexible cover- its not required but I added it as protection for the wire running from my battery thru the drain hole passenger side ( that opening allows for the water to drain from the windshield- I found that opening as the easiest manner to get the wire to the back on my Jeep. The1/4" wire loom split tubing was a little large for that single wire but hey the wiring is protected from chafing and shorting out. You can buy a roll at most hardware stores, Home Depot, or Lowes, and on Amazon, I got mine off of Amazon. But back to your main question - either package will work, I just didn't want to speed time splicing wires together, personal preference I guess. Side note: I'm extremely happy with all the products I purchased from eTrailer, and they were super fast in responding to my questions. I did remove my right front tire and right rear, it was helpful for me, while routing and securing the wiring. Install is straight forward ( watch the video).

I also used the C27BR on my 2023 JGC Avalanche (Not-L). My particular boat trailer has a brake system that requires the reverse disengage that a 5-Pole flat uses. For that I used a 4 Pole to 5 Pole adapter, but I had to tap into the reverse light wiring to make everything work ok.
