Recommended Ball Mount for a 2016 Ram 1500

Question:

Hi, I have a 2018 Forest River Extreme Vibe Lite travel trailer. Its 26 feet long. I also have a 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 Tradesman. I need a class iv ball mount and am not sure what kind to get. I have heard about rise and drop and am not sure if that comes into play here. Also, Id like the class iv ball mount to tow 10,000 pounds. Thanks for your help.

In order to find the correct ball mount for your 2016 Ram 1500 you are going to need to measure from the ground to the top of the inside edge on your truck's trailer hitch receiver tube opening and then compare that to the distance from the ground to the bottom of the coupler on your trailer while level. The difference between these two measurements will give you the correct amount of rise/drop you need to look for in a ball mount which I have attached a list of for you.

With that being said, if you ever need to tow a different trailer with your tow vehicle then you are most likely going to need a different rise/drop or hitch ball size which then makes an adjustable one with multiple hitch balls the best option. For an adjustable ball mount with multiple hitch balls, I recommend using the Flash E Series Adjustable 2-Ball Mount part # FA42-00-2800.
