Recommended Tire Chains for 2018 GMC Denali with P285/45r22 Tires with Minimum Clearances
Published 11/20/2018 >
Question:
I have a 2018 GMC Denali, in the manual it says you should not use tire chains for a P285/45R22 tire. I am looking to see if there is a solution for limited clearance? I don’t think I would be using the chains often but like to have Them for just in case for trips to Tahoe as we go quite often. Are the TC2327 a possible option or the PW 2033C a possible option. Just don’t want to pick something that might damage the car or is there something else I should look at.

Helpful Expert Reply:
On your 2018 GMC Yukon Denali, the factory tires and manufacturer limiting use of tire chains is to limit their liability. In some places it is required to use chains by law, so my recommendation is to use the chains with the smallest internal clearance required as that is what the manufacturer is concerned about. Most Class S chains should work fine for you.
My recommendation is the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link - 1 Pair # TC2327 you referenced. These chains are made of manganese nickel alloy so they will be very strong and have the integrated tensioners. The links are 3.7 mm thick and require at least .59 inches between the tire sidewall and the Yukon itself. The diamond-pattern will give you more tire coverage to increase traction and stopping power and also give you a smoother ride.
I've attached a couple articles to help further with tire chains.
