Greasing the Curt OEM Gooseneck Hitch Ball for the Factory Prep Packages

Question:
I was wondering if and what grease to use on the Ford OEM ball that fits into the factory prepped gooseneck in my 2016 F250 truck. Wondering because the top has a spring loaded lever for ing the removing the ball. Wouldnt the grease interfere with the operation of this?

The Curt Ball and Safety Chain Loop Kit for Chevy, Ford, GM, and Nissan Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # C60692 does not need to be greased unless the mechanism isn't working properly. A spray penetrating spray grease works well, don't over do it. A little grease on the hitch ball won't interfere with function as there is even hitch ball grease # 58117 to reduce noise which could alternatively be used. I personally like the spray with the hose if you want to protect the internal mechanism.
