Troubleshooting Weak Trailer Brake Performance Trailer Brakes that are Grounded w 14 Gauge Wire

I have a 2012 Flagstaff 831, about 7600 lb total. I have replaced everything between the vehicle and the wheels related to the brakes. Every component except the axels! The new 7 pin connector on the trailer side is wired to a new brake wire in the junction box and a new common ground. Ive run an all new 10 gauge wire in series to each brake and grounded each wheel with 14g wire independently to the frame. All junction box connections were properly twisted, then dielectric grease applied and wire nut affixed and then taped. Crimped each connection at the new backing plates with dielectric grease, heat shrink and then taped at the wheels. All brand new components drums, magnet, backing plate, shoes, springs, etc. Adjusted brakes to drag and then backed off about 3-5 clicks. Biggest mystery.... I only initially set out to replace the grooved drums and magnets thinking that was the issue, but Ive had very little change since revamping the entire system. I started out with a 3 out of 10inch after replacing the brakes alone, 10 being best brake function squeeze the lever at gain of 10 and lock up the 4 trailer brakes. I wasnt able to lock them up with the 14foot F150 or the 16foot Suburban both with integrated controllers, at 10-40 mph before or after the new install! Ive gone from a 3 to about a 5 as far as improvement, however, at 25mph it still takes about 100 feet to roll to a complete stop gain 10, hand actuator applied fully, no skid/lock up. I was at my wits end so hired a mobile trailer repairman that came well recommended. He adjusted the brakes at each wheel then tested electrical. He said everything checked out and left. Charged me $125 and said call him back if that didnt fix it. Of course, it didnt! I didnt call him back, he seemed to be in a hurry and disinterested. Its surely not the vehicle, I used 2 different vehicles with zero different results. I have changed out every brake related component.... have I lost my mind? Every RV professional I have talked to has said I should easily be able to lock up those brakes. Why can I not??? I have an appointment next week with a different RV repair shop.

The first thing that pops out to me is that your ground wires are only 14 gauge when they really should be 10 gauge. That would be an easy thing to try. We sell 10 gauge wire as part # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot). Smaller gauge wire won't allow the full amperage to charge the magnets which will result in weak brake performance. I hope it's as easy of a fix as just that! But let me know how that goes and how the appointment with the RV shop goes too!
