Question:
I own a 2018 GMC Canyon to which I am going to hardwire a Tekonsha P3 brake controller. I removed the kick panel and located to 4 wires. They are BLACK, RED, LIGHT BLUE AND WHITE WITH A BLUE STRIPE. Can you please tell me which wire on the truck is connected to which one on the controller? Thank you.

Helpful Expert Reply:
On the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller # 90195 (great choice) the black wire is for 12V power, the blue wire is for brake output to the 7-Way connector, the red wire is for brake switch on the vehicle, and the white wire is for ground.
Based on my research the following connections will be made with the wires you found behind the kick panel of your GMC Canyon:
Black wire on brake controller to red wire in vehicle
Blue wire on brake controller to light blue wire on vehicle
Red wire on brake controller to white/blue wire on vehicle
White wire on brake controller to black wire on vehicle
Since vehicle manufacturers tend to change up the wire colors, they use at the factory from time to time, it's still a good idea to test the wires you found for function using a circuit tester like # PTW2992 just to be sure you make the correct connections.
